Celebrating International Women's Day 2023

Today we join the celebrations for International Women’s Day with a look at the accomplishments of our MD, Carol Webb.

Carol worked for a number of businesses but after working as Finance Manager for an international software company, Carol saw how rigid the bookkeeping industry was and saw a gap in the market for a flexible service to meet the needs of clients and took the brave decision to launch her own bookkeeping practice in 2006. Carol decided to join the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, not only are they the world’s leading bookkeeping organisation, their principles, professionalism and promotion of recognised qualifications mirrored our own.

The early days were difficult, having to work part time whilst building her client base to ensure she received an income, furthering her studies to gain qualifications to offer more services as well as having a teenage daughter.

Carol quickly gained a client base and was able to leave her part time job and concentrate on Cashtrak full time.

Carol now employs a team of five and the business is thriving. Carol believes that a bookkeeping practice should be more than ‘just’ a bookkeeper for clients and has added a range of services to her offering outside of the ‘normal’ bookkeeping services and with Carol's experience of all aspects of running a successful small businesses have given her a broad view of a range of sectors which has proved invaluable in providing comprehensive services, input and pro-active guidance to her clients.

Giving back is important to Carol and she helps out in the local community when possible, Cashtrak provides lower fees for charitable organisations and provide some services free of charge as a thank you for their hard work. Cashtrak choose a charity of the year and provide employees with time off to volunteer and raise money for the chosen charity (which is Blue Cross this year, the animal welfare charity.)

On top of all of this, Carol is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) which is the highest grade of membership, reserved for the best of the best and they bestow this honour on very few member; a member of the ICB advisory council that provides informed advice and independent support to the ICB Executive on relevant and topical issues and the Branch Chair of the ICB Oxfordshire branch. Plus she is the mentoring co-ordinator for BNI Thames Maidenhead networking and referral organisation. We don’t know how she fits everything in!
